Shahadate e Othman was the first major fracture in the Unified character of milllat Islamia that literally shifted the institution of caliphate from viceroyalty of prophet (pbhu) to the viceroyalty of Self Political Interests .
The immediate causes were the same as we have in today’s Arab as well as Muslim world’s ruling elites that was an extravagant life style & a Luxuries Culture , existence of evils of Favoritism & Nepotism in top Positions Placements ,holding Double standards of justice in the matter of accountability process superseding weaker at the hand of powerfulls, that led the disintegration of ages long Muslim Supremacy into a mere subjugation of western world
If one say that Hazrat uthman favoritism factor in the affair of state is the major cause of his unpopularity among his subjects that finally led to the massive revolt which terminated in from of his Shahadate at the hands of rebels will not be over exaggeration of the facts of history , while under besieged for 40 days , Othman was earnestly compiling Quran& its phoenix(Aarabs) while his kith & Kilns were playing havoc with the state,
& made people against him for not observing the Spirit of Sunnah as followed by his predecessors Umar & Abu Bakar , the history reveals that no one but Governor of Medina & Caliph Uthman first Cousine Marvane conspired diplomatic letter issue for the removal of Walid the Governor of Basra Garrison in accordance to the demands of rebels against the charges of Corruption & Draconian practices over his subjects , the letter was replaced by another letter carrying the Caliph Seal ordering Walid to Punish rebels to death . although Uthman denied the authenticity of that letter but it was too late to minimize the distrust of rebels over this issue .further rumors broke out among rebels that heavily armed contingent was coming from Syria under the order of Ameer Maywa the Governor of Syria to rescue Caliph , Although Hazrat Ali placed his both sons Hazrat Hassan & Hussain to safe guard Caliph Palace but Muhamad bin Abu bakar a son of Hazrat Abu bakar along with some rebels managed to enter the Caliphs private chamber , for 40 days the Old Caliph bearing great services to ISLAM before & after prophet was besieged without ample water & food & finally stabbed to death while reciting Quran , his wife Naila came to rescue him before rebels & their sword cut her finger in an attempt to save his husband , but her finger impression casted on the blood ridden shirt of Uthman which later became a source of great dissention & blood shed among the muslim in the later part of Islamic History especially in the Era of Hazrat Ali as his successor, the blooded strained shirts of Othman placed on the pulpit of grand mosque of Damascus Syria where people kept coming dividing virtually the unified Muslim Empire into two half one supporters of Ali & second the avenger of Uthman led by Syrian governor hoping to become the Caliph of Muslim Empire
On June 16 in 654 AD people through extending allegiance( bayat ) elected Hazrat Ali the fourth and the last orthodox caliph o f faithfulls,
